The Ghost of Our Love quest in Hogwarts Legacy presents players with a charming treasure hunt centered around a mysterious map depicting floating candles. Unlocking this side quest requires players to obtain the map from a specific story location depending on their chosen Hogwarts house. Staying updated with daily gaming news can help players stay informed on hidden secrets and optimal puzzle strategies across major action RPGs. Solving this riddle requires a keen eye and precise timing during the night hours.
How to Acquire the Map with Floating Candles
Obtaining the treasure map is tied directly to your house-specific main quest early in the game. Gryffindor players find it in the Owlry during Richard Jackdaw's quest, while Slytherin players locate it in a cave near the coast. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students acquire the map during their respective visits to Upper Hogsmeade or the Owlery area.
Once added to your inventory, inspecting the map reveals a forest entrance, a stone bridge, a crescent moon, and floating candles. These clues indicate that the quest must be pursued exclusively at night near the outskirts of Hogwarts.
Finding the Starting Location at Night
To begin following the map's trail, travel to the Forbidden Forest Fast Travel point located just north of the castle grounds. Open your map and change the time of day to night if it is currently daylight. Walk toward the stone bridge positioned nearby, which matches the landmark depicted on the parchment.
Equip the Lumos spell upon reaching the edge of the stone bridge. Casting Lumos at night near this bridge triggers the magical floating candles to manifest right in front of your character.
Following the Floating Candles into the Forest
Once the floating candles appear, they will begin drifting steadily into the path leading toward the Forbidden Forest. Follow them closely as they guide you through a scenic, winding trail lined with trees and glowing flora. You do not need to hurry, as the candles will wait if you lag slightly behind.
The candles will eventually lead you up a small hill to a romantic picnic spot set up with two chairs and a table. A glowing chest will spawn right next to the seating area once the candles settle above the clearing.
Rewards for Completing the Ghost of Our Love Quest
Opening the treasure chest completes the Ghost of Our Love quest and awards valuable gear and appearance items. Players earn 180 XP alongside the Treasure Seeker's Scarf appearance gear option. Additionally, opening the chest grants a generous amount of Galleons to spend in Hogsmeade shops.
Completing this quest early provides useful cosmetic upgrades and easy experience points toward your character level. It stands as one of the most memorable atmospheric side activities available in the open world of Hogwarts Legacy.
